What Is a Floor Shot Blasting Machine?
A floor shot blasting machine is a mobile surface-preparation machine that uses high-speed steel shot to impact concrete, steel, asphalt, bridge decks, and other suitable surfaces.
It is also called a:
- Floor shot blaster
- Concrete shot blaster
- Road shot blasting machine
- Concrete floor bead blaster
- Surface preparation shot blaster
- Bridge deck shot blaster
During operation, the blast wheel accelerates steel shot toward the surface. The impact removes or weakens suitable coatings, laitance, loose material, rust, scale, contaminants, and surface residue. The machine then recovers the abrasive and directs dust and removed material toward the connected dust collector.
This is not the same as simply making a floor look cleaner. The goal is often to create a surface condition suitable for the next process, such as:
- Epoxy flooring
- Polyurethane coating
- Waterproofing membrane application
- Anti-slip treatment
- Bridge deck waterproofing
- Industrial floor restoration
- Pavement marking removal
- Steel coating preparation
- Floor overlay preparation
The required result varies by coating system and project specification. A surface that appears clean may still have the wrong texture, moisture level, contamination condition, or adhesion condition for the next coating.

Choose YG-270 When Access Matters Most
The YG-270 Single can be considered for smaller areas, narrow paths, repair zones, corridors, or projects where the machine must move through constrained access routes.
Its narrower working width may be helpful where a larger machine cannot work efficiently. However, a narrow machine does not remove the need to plan edge treatment, dust collection, power access, and coating-specification checks.
Choose YG-550/600 for Balanced Production
The YG-550/600 Double can be considered for medium-scale industrial floors, parking structures, road maintenance sections, bridge decks, and common coating-preparation projects.
This size can provide a practical balance between working width, mobility, and production potential for contractors who handle varied job types.
Choose YG-850 for Large, Open Areas
The YG-850 Double can be considered for large industrial floors, warehouses, factories, long straight lanes, and projects with enough access space to support a larger machine and dust-collection setup.
It is not automatically the correct choice for every large project. If the site has many columns, drains, walls, tight turns, interrupted work zones, or complex edge treatment, the total project pace may still depend heavily on secondary tools and manual finishing.

Floor Shot Blasting Machine vs Grinding vs Scarifying vs Sandblasting
Different surface-preparation methods solve different problems. They should not be presented as identical alternatives.
| Method | Often Used For | Main Strength | Main Limitation |
| Floor shot blasting machine | Coating removal, laitance removal, surface profiling, bridge deck preparation, large-floor work | Closed abrasive recovery process and consistent travel path on suitable surfaces | Does not finish all edges, corners, drains, or severely damaged areas |
| Floor grinding | Smoothing, leveling, thin-coating removal, polishing, and local edge work | Good control for smoothing and edge finishing | May not create the same profile or removal result as shot blasting |
| Scarifying/milling | Thick coating removal, high spots, damaged concrete, deep material removal | More aggressive removal for selected conditions | Can create a rougher texture and may require additional preparation |
| Portable sandblasting machine | Small areas, repairs, corners, irregular shapes, and localized work | Flexible for difficult geometry | More containment and cleanup planning may be required |
| Dry ice blasting machine | Residue-sensitive cleaning, equipment maintenance, and low-secondary-residue cleaning | Does not leave abrasive media behind | Usually not a direct substitute for aggressive concrete profiling or coating-anchor preparation |
| Pass-through shot blasting machine | Steel plates, beams, profiles, pipes, and factory production lines | Continuous treatment of fabricated steel workpieces | Not designed for mobile floor or road-surface work |
| Sandblasting room/blast room | Large, irregular, non-movable, or complex workpieces | Controlled enclosed blasting for industrial components | Not a mobile solution for floors, roads, or bridge decks |
YG can provide different surface-preparation equipment because a contractor may have both site-based and factory-based work. The correct solution depends on whether you are treating a floor, road, bridge deck, steel plate, structural member, machinery component, or irregular fabricated workpiece.
