At YG Machinery, we help new water well contractors, farm owners, and water supply project buyers assemble a complete crawler water well drilling rig package matched to your job. Instead of pushing fixed bundles, our first three technical questions are always: what hole diameter you need, your target drilling depth, and the underground formation you will drill into. We pair the rig with a suitable air compressor for rock drilling, or configure a mud pump for soft soil formations.

This is important to understand upfront: maximum rated depth and maximum hole diameter cannot usually be achieved at the same time on one rig model. Our standard working range covers 140 mm to 260 mm hole size, with target depths from 60 m up to 300 m. The rig can reach up to 350 mm diameter and 800 m depth as extended capacity; sizes or depths beyond these figures require custom design.

Two Standard Package Configurations

We offer two clear setup routes based mainly on formation type.

  1. Rock or overburden + bedrock package: Crawler water well drilling rig + matched air compressor + drill bit, 3 m drill rods, and crossover adapter. If you run into unstable upper soil layers, a mud pump can be added as an optional extra. Winch is optional. This setup uses compressed air for rock penetration.
  2. Soft soil dominant package: Crawler rig + mud pump + tricone or drag bits + 3 m drill rods. Winch is optional. This mud rotary setup circulates drilling fluid to carry soil cuttings and stabilize loose bore walls. It cannot work with air percussion drilling; the two systems operate independently.

Air hose and mud hose sections are supplied in 20 m lengths. Exact hose quantity, pressure rating, and connector type are to be confirmed per your layout. Air delivery lines for air drilling are not interchangeable with mud circulation hoses.

Formation Guidance: Choose Air Drilling or Mud Drilling

Air drilling works best for solid hard rock, limestone, and compact bedrock zones. It penetrates rock quickly when the borehole stays dry enough for air flushing. It becomes risky in loose, water-bearing sand, gravel, and heavily fractured zones.

For sand layers, gravel beds, loose soil, and broken unstable formations, mud rotary drilling with mud circulation and casing is usually the safer option to prevent bore collapse. A common mistake for new drillers is judging formation only by surface soil. Even if the topsoil looks simple, you may hit sand or fractured rock underground. We suggest gathering nearby well records or local geological reports before locking your package.

How Air Drilling Works (For New Operators)

Air drilling is the core air-powered method for our crawler water well drilling rig. A matched air compressor delivers compressed air down the drill string to the drilling bit. Continuous percussion and rotary action break hard rock while the rotary head turns the drill rod steadily. Air flow carries rock cuttings back up the borehole to the surface.

Air compressor selection cannot be overlooked. Working pressure and air volume directly decide your drilling efficiency at a given diameter and depth. Higher elevation, deeper boreholes, and larger hole sizes all demand higher air output. We will cross-check your site altitude, target depth, hole size, and rock type before recommending an air compressor. If your bore passes through thick soft overburden before hitting bedrock, we may add a mud pump for temporary borehole stability.

Practical Advantages of YG Crawler Water Well Drilling Rig Packages

We design these bundles with new contractors and project buyers in mind. Every component, including the rig, compressor, bits, and rods, shares matched connection interfaces. This reduces the risk of mismatched threads or incompatible parts after delivery. We clearly separate standard included items from optional add-ons such as mud pumps, winches, and extra casing accessories.

Crawler tracks deliver good mobility on uneven rural sites, farms, and mountain access roads. Standardised component groups also simplify container loading, sea freight arrangement, and later on-site maintenance.

Frequently Asked Questions About YG Crawler-Mounted Water Well Drilling Rigs

Q1: Can this crawler water well drilling rig drill to 800 meters?

A1: Selected models can reach 800 m under suitable rock conditions with a properly sized air compressor. Remember that reaching 800 m usually means using a smaller bore diameter. Maximum depth and maximum hole size cannot be achieved together. Drilling deeper than 800 m needs custom engineering.

Q2: Should I choose air drilling or mud rotary drilling?

A2: Use air drilling for hard rock. Use mud rotary drilling for sand, gravel, and loose, collapsing soil. Many projects combine both: mud for unstable top layers, then switch to air drilling once solid rock is reached.

Q3: How do I pick the correct air compressor?

A3: Air compressor selection depends on your target depth, hole size, drill bit configuration, site altitude, and expected rock hardness. Higher altitude reduces the air compressor’s effective output, so we need your site elevation data for matching.

Q4: Are drill bits included?

A4: Basic matched drill bit and crossover adapter are included in the standard air drilling package. Extra consumable spares can be quoted separately on request.

Q5: Do you provide operation training?

A5: We supply operation manuals and technical guidance. On-site training, remote video support, and trainer arrangement can be confirmed before order, subject to your location and schedule.

Q6: What spare parts should I prepare at the beginning?

A6: Common wearing parts include drill bits, seals, and hose connectors. We can send you a recommended spare parts list once we confirm your full package.
